One of the most joyful seencs I've ever witnessed was while passing through a little town on a train in Peru. Peru was an eye-opener for me: it was the first time I'd seen *real* poverty, and I'd spent 9 years teaching in the inner city where people didn't have much. I watched as a group of children jumped up and down excitedly, waving at the train, as their elders sat talking with each other, huge smiles on their faces, as others worked carrying heavy loads with smiles on their faces. These were people who didn't even have solid doors on their homes, perhaps a bare lightbulb in one room of the house. And yet, they found joy, connection, in spite of their circumstances.I think finding appreciation in every moment, especially the tough ones, is the key to finding more happiness in our lives. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
